Trickster Love

Pleasantly alone,
I walked a narrow path
Where life led me
From day to day
Without event
Until a small fork I did spy
And made haste
To follow it.

Along the tumbled
And overgrown narrow I trod
Whence I saw the trickster Love
And Love bade me follow
So round and round
Love gave me chase
Before veering off
And leaving me stranded in unknown.

Looking round
I did not recognize
The harsh terrain around me
And everywhere there were cliffs
And pitfalls. And I cursed
the joker Love
For transforming me
Into a naive fool.

But eventually
I found life's path
And again I followed
The narrow road
Until Love disguised
Again calls
And blindly I chase
And Loose my way again.

Mirage

Everyday seems like a mirage
Every word a whisper only I can hear
Every touch a phantom chill that runs through an aching skeleton.

Every minute seems like a dream
A vacation in your arms which hold me fast
Every moment a memory of solemn promises.

Every place is a paradise
Built only for us to see, an Eden,
Hidden away from all others, only we know the road.

Every movement is a ritual
Until cold reality sets in
My fantasies are just that, and you are only...

A mirage.

Black and White Keys

Long, lean fingers
Touch black and white keys
Creating harmony
Filling rooms
With music where
Silence obstructed
Viewing the soul.

Smooth, husky voices
Sing melodies
Sending shivers
Shootig down the
Warm spines of
Lonely girls
Dreaming of love.

Unyielding eyes
Glance tauntingly
Toward sheltered
Gazes invoking
Color to spread
Into pale and
Frenzied cheeks.

Distorted

What it is
You're looking at.

You see lines
And shapes, and colors
But you don't see
The image they form.

You see inside
And you see darkness
But you can't tell
What it means.

You see a smile
But you take it
For face value
And don't see love.

You view the world
As your oyster
Can't see the miracle, just
Keep looking for the pearl.

Open your eyes
Your mind
Your heart,
Then maybe things
Won't be so
Distorted.
